On the special features front, things are kind of sparse. There is a 30-minute making of piece, with the standard fluffy interviews (and strange issues with the sound), and a handful of deleted scenes (all of which are interesting, but most unnecessary to the plot). The trailer and TV spot are worth watching, though, as an object lesson in proper marketing. They are effing brilliant. Dark, but with a hint of humor, and just enough of the story to tantalize without being vulgar. Well done!

Lastly, there is a feature-length commentary with Lichtenstein, which is entertaining and informative, when he speaks. Unfortunately, whole scenes go by without comment. But it is still worth the watch, since he gives several pieces of information about the story that aren’t revealed in the movie.

It also occurs to me that nowhere in this piece do I mention how amazing Jessica Weixler is as Dawn. All of the actors are great (especially the guys who have to have their penises bitten off – that takes balls, wocka wocka) but Weixler plays the only character who has any sort of arc, who has to display a range of disparate emotions. She carries the film, and does it fearlessly.

The final word on Teeth is: see it. Yesterday.

Had mixed feelings watching Teeth. Ultimately I found the more interesting and
terrifying content to be that about the teen abstinence culture, and that pretty
much went out of the window once Dawn started biting peckers off. I think it was
marketed pretty badly too, in the UK at least - they were trying to sell it like
Saw or Hostel, 'DARE YOU SEE TEETH?!', that kind of bullshit, when it's clearly
more a black comedy than a serious horror movie. It certainly did raise more
than a few giggles. But as you say it lacked any well-rounded characters outside
of Dawn - sorry, but the men all turning into rapists did grate a bit - and it
also could have done with a proper conclusion that felt less like an
afterthought. Still, not bad, it just didn't rock my world the way it did yours.

Your points are valid, especially the one about poor marketing. Many times I
have seen a film go down in flames for that very reason.

For my part, my
view of women tends to vacillate between reverence and sheer terror. My father
abandoned us, so I had no male role model. Thus my mother was everything to me:
god. And now, later in life, I find that lots of women that I know, strong
women, creative women, beautiful women inside and out have no idea of their
awesomeness because of verbal/physical.sexual abuse at the hands of men.

But
anyway, yeah, it may just be my own issues that caused this move to hit home for
me.

In other news, you should watch The Mad Bomber (starring Chuck Connors,
who I think was actually made out of wood). They put some female cops out
dresses proactively to lure out a rapist, and EVERY SINGLE MAN IN THE CITY GOES
ON THE ATTACK. I thought I was cynical. Bert I. Gordon leaves me in the
motherfucking dust.

I have admin powers here, and I cannot edit or delete my post. Double U Tee Eff?

Anyway, that should be provocatively and dressed, respectively.

This was one of my favorites from last year. I still have to buy a copy.

She
was fantastic, but i found everyone else blah.

The one thing I think that
most people don't, is that men didn't come off as bad as most believe. Her
vagina attacked for different reasons each encounter.

Great movie.

All the men in this movie were not rapists. Only the first.

I never
understood how people came to that conclusion about this movie.

The Dr wasn't
a rapist.
The garage kid wasn't a rapist.
Her step brother was definitely not
a rapist.
The old perv probably was.

SPOILERS...

Er... George? You did watch the scene in the doctor's
office, right? You did see him talk off his rubber glove and violently
shove his fingers into Dawn?

He might not have used his cock but
he still raped her. Hence all his fingers got lopped off. As for Garage Kid
and Brother - both made it clear from the beginning all they wanted
was to fuck her. So okay, it was consensual in those cases - but it still
gives the message that all the men in her life were braindead buffoons
motivated entirely by their sex drive. And as I said, this did grate on me
a bit - but hey, it's a fantasy film, not a documentary.

Shit, now I too am having a 'need to edit post' moment... of course that should
have said 'TAKE off his rubber glove.'
